November 22, 2019 – PHOENIX, AZ – AZ Central is reporting the death of a woman and the injuries of two other people in a car accident at 55th Avenue and Indian School Rd.

Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said Phoenix police officers found a truck and sedan with collision damage at the location around 6:30 p.m.

Fortune said the crash happened when the driver of the truck was making a left turn onto 55th Avenue from Indian School Road. That's when police say the driver of the sedan, a 19-year-old man, was reportedly speeding eastbound on Indian School Road when he collided with the truck. The impact of the crash caused the sedan to crash into an apartment complex fence.

The people in the truck, a 68-year-old man, and his passenger, a 61-year-old woman, were taken to a hospital for their injuries. The woman, identified as Leticia Ochoa, was later pronounced deceased. The man remains in critical condition but is expected to recover.

According to officials, impairment was not a factor for either driver. This investigation is still ongoing.
