Brigham Cluff: Do you know how long those state minimum liability policy limits have been in effect?
Derek Wilcock: 40 plus years.
Brigham Cluff: Wow! Why has that stayed the same?
Derek Wilcock: I know it’s gone in front of the state legislature where they’ve tried to increase the limits, but it’s been shot down. To me, I think they need to be raised, not just in the interest of society as a whole. Like we said, $15,000 is not going to get you very far in a claim if you’re injured by someone and that’s what we’re dealing with. That’s why it’s even so much more important for the individuals who have a lot to lose to make sure they’re protecting themselves.
